Human Trafficking, When Eyes Fall Short of the Big Picture

Updated on June 30, 2017

What is Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is the trade of humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others. This may encompass providing a spouse in the context of forced marriage, or the extraction of organs or tissues, including for surrogacy and ova removal. Human trafficking can occur within a country or trans-nationally. Human trafficking is a crime against the person because of the violation of the victim's rights of movement through coercion and because of their commercial exploitation. Human trafficking is the trade in people, and does not necessarily involve the movement of the person from one place to another. (Wikipedia)

Child Abuse at its worst
Child Abuse at its worst | Source

Each Year in the United States of America it is estimated that 18,000 human beings will be trafficked especially women and children.

Why is this happening? Because of the internet and the ability for pedophiles to access them, get them to trust them, meet them, and then be sold into human slavery.

Children are gullible and trusting and children as young as 12 years old are being raked in to these scammers domain.

More than 250,000 American youth are at risk for sexual exploitation and parents are not monitoring their internet usage

In addition to domestic girls who are exploited, about 14,500 to 17,500 girls from other countries are smuggled into the United States for this purpose, according to the State Department.

If you ever feel that this is happening please contact your local law enforcement agency for help.

People know what it is that your children are doing at every moment on the computer. You may save their life. Missing and exploited children can be saved with help from everyone.

What Can You Do

The first defense you can have is to stop letting your children have a Facebook page when they are young an impressionable. Kids crave attention and will be getting the wrong kind. Another way you can help is to stop allowing your children's photos on your Facebook page shared publicly. We all like to show our children and grandchildren to our friends, but every pedophile in the world is looking at your baby boy or girl plotting to kidnap them.

Use your parental controls on television and on the internet so they will not be going to websites that could possibly track them down. If you are out running errands or eating, know your surroundings and keep an eye on your kids. Don't let them go to any bathroom alone especially in places like airports, malls and park restrooms.

Children think that no one would ever hurt them and these are the same children that will be kidnapped. There will be no ransom wanted by the kidnappers because they will get their money in the slave trade auctions.

It is the upmost importance to know what your children are doing every moment of the day.

True Facts

Who Do They Target

Women and children are the most targeted individuals using them for sex, slaves, labor, organs and prostitution.

They are trapped in lives of misery—often beaten, starved, and forced to work as prostitutes or to take grueling jobs as migrant, domestic, restaurant, or factory workers with little or no pay. We’re working hard to stop human trafficking—not only because of the personal and psychological toll it takes on society, but also because it facilitates the illegal movement of immigrants across borders and provides a ready source of income for organized crime groups and even terrorists. Right now someone is being trafficked. At least 18,000 people are trafficked every year. Most of them being kidnapped at large events like the Super Bowl.

Pimp-led prostitution is one of the most violent and prolific forms of trafficking found in the US. Many are branded with tattoos by their traffickers as a sign of ownership and control.

It Has to End

Human Trafficking is the second largest crime committed nationally. You would never think that the United States would be the point of sale to this horrible crime. Border States such as California, New York or Florida are the most used states to exploit children and women. Many are told they are going to work and make good money. A single mother and her child unaware of these things, would willingly go with someone to have a better life for their children.

Wanting the better life and being naïve are the targets of traffickers. Slaver was abolished 150 years ago but it is the biggest act committed to this day. Once these women, children and some men are caught up in this brutal crime, there is nothing they can do. They are drugged, moved and never to be found again.

In Closing

If you ever feel suspicious of something wrong when you see a child or even an adult with fear on their face or trying to get your attention, please call the police and help them.

We have to be their eyes and ears since they are helpless especially children. It takes little time to make sure someone is safe. You may be the one saving them from human trafficking.
