When People Stalk You
I have had the pleasure of having a cyber stalker invade my personal life. It all started as a simple disagreement on a lapband website I am a member of. This person then began going to my books online and wreaking havoc on my writing by giving my books horrible reviews and having others do the same.
Not that I really cared about it because I know what my writing is worth, but then she went to extremes. Stalking every site I was writing on and making my life miserable every single day. Not only have I sought legal help but this person just does not know the predicament she has put herself in. Her behavior has been so bad that she is now going to face criminal charges and can face anywhere from 2 years to 10 in prison with a 10,000 dollar fine to go with it.
It is one thing to give someone an honest review and not be favorable of their work, I accept that, however when you continuely will not stop this behavior it now becomes harassment and cyberbullying.
I am really sure she probably thinks she is doing nothing wrong, however it's not only children that get bullied. I would love to post her picture in hopes that someone could identify her but that I can not do. I just hope that when she does finally get arrested that she thinks long and hard that this behavior is not normal.
Cyber bullying is a criminal offense and if you are ever cyberbullied then first go to your local law enforcement, secondly you can contact the FBI cyber crimes unit and thirdly you can hire a lawyer to force a company to produce the persons name and address as I am doing currently.
I hope that no one ever has to go through what I am/have gone through but if you do I hope you step in and take the correct measures to stop the person from doing it.

What is Cyber Bullying
Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites.
It is against the law and punishable as a felony. Report anyone who is doing that to you to your local law enforcement. They have the tools they need to track the person down and stop them for good.
If you are in fear of your life, then get other organizations involved even if it has to be the FBI. What ever it takes do it and do not tell anyone what you are doing especially if they could go back and tell the person that is cyber bullying you.
How to stop Cyber Bullying
- Don’t respond to and don’t forward cyberbullying messages.
- Keep evidence of cyberbullying. Record the dates, times, and descriptions of instances when cyberbullying has occurred. Save and print screenshots, emails, and text messages. Use this evidence to report cyberbullying to web and cell phone service providers.
- Block the person who is cyber bullying.
When cyber bullying involves these activities it is considered a crime and should be reported to law enforcement:
- Threats of violence
- Child pornography or sending sexually explicit messages or photos
- Taking a photo or video of someone in a place where he or she would expect privacy
- Stalking and hate crimes
Some states consider other forms of cyber bullying criminal. Consult your state’s laws and law enforcement for additional guidance.
In Closing
People who cyber stalk their victims probably think it is a fun game that they have started to play, what they don' realize it can land them in jail for a period of ten years and a big fine.
I urge you if you are being stalked on line to report it to your local authorities. It doesnt matter if they believe you or not, you have a report in the system. Never give in to a stalker. Your safety is more important then to let them have their way. There are many predators on line and you do not need to be a victim.
